There was also Braniff Airlines out of Dallas. I liked the airline but the luggage never made it with me. LOL

I have fond memories of Woolworths. We had one in our city that had two floors. The top floor had an old fashined soda fountain were you could sit and eat. And downstairs there was a large toy section. It was always a special treat to go to Woolworths. The building is still there and the Woolworths name in brass letters can still be seen set in the floor tile.

let's not forget Polaroid,,,my husband worked there for nearly 30 years and has lint in his pockets...the company was bought and sold over and over and each CEO had wonderful Golden Parachutes...It is now owned by Peter's Group, and they slap the name on anything inexspensivly made in foreign country's ...while the people who remember Dr. Land and his conviction for his employees are nearly on the brink of survival.. We thought after working 30 years for a company your pretty much set for retirement...He started at 18, we have three kids in College...we all work 2 jobs to make it happen....Thanks Golden Parachuters!

Let's not forget about Polaroid...my husband worked there for nearly 30 years and was left with nothing after resale after reasale and the CEO's stripping the company assets with their Golden Parachutes, now Peters group owns the name, fired all the Dr. Land devotee's and puts the polaroid name on anything that is inexpensively made in foreign countries and shames the name.

I've never seen such an out-pouring of fond emotion as is displayed by former Eastern employees and passengers. I was a passenger many times and loved the airline. In fact, my first commercial airline flight was in 1947 on an Eastern plane from LaGuardia to Rochester, N.Y. with a stop in Syracuse. I remember the Eastern Shuttle between New York and Boston and Washington. $15 one-way and they would push out another plane in case the first one sold out. I can still remember the day when you could go out to the airport and just go right up to the door of the plane with your ticket - no detectors, just smiles. That was an airline. Who can forget those memorable commercials with Catarina Valente singing that Eastern was "...number one to the sun." They were better than that - they were number one - period!

FULLMORE...or I should say FULL-MORON! It's people like you that are pulling this Great country down and loosing respect around the world.. Listen to yourself complaining about the media and the "perception" of problems on this country as you call them. You sound like a "Whiner" to me. Isn't that the definition that Republicans and the McCains said is the cause of our problems. If you want to see real positive change for this country why don't you want to see someone new with fresh ideas in this country.

I still have my old Compaq, It works the same-if not somewhat better-than the newer ones. It's fun to play around with because it still has all of those little mess-ups.
