TRAINCITY.......YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A CLUE.

As I recall, in 1953 the U.S. Could no longer sustain itself on domestic oil supplies.

Just as I suspected. Someone posts some outrageous claim but disappears when asked to provide evidence.

There are more oil reserves buried in the Santa Barbara Channel and in Alaska than we could ever use. OPEC would go ape if we started serious exploration and drilling. The price of oil from OPEC would plummet as they run around trying to protect their butts. Who do think really doesn't want us to drill our own oil? It's OPEC. And traitors like Clinton, Gore, and Obama play right into OPEC's hands. Do Clinton and Obama have secret agendas? You bet. And both involve kissing up to OPEC for decades to come. And why not? None of the politicans have paid a dime of their own money at the gas pump for years so they don't know what it's like to be squeezed in their own pockets. They whine about not having enough money to pay for campaigning while the rest of us are working our tails off to get to work, pay for food and other stuff we HAVE to have. I say throw all the politicians out and start over with some leaders who really know what it's like to have to work for a day's wage.

ANWR: estimated 12 Billion bbls. 7-12 YEARS from drilling to production. Production is about 125,000 bbls/day spaced over about 30 years. The US currently uses 21 MILLION bbls/day for an annual usage of about 7.2 Bbbls. This means ANWR has about 1 1/2 years supply but spread out over 30 years or so.
Bakkan Shale Oil Fields in the Dakotas. Estimates range from 30 Bbbls to over 500Bbbls, with a recovery rate of 3% to 50%. This works out to a range of just under 1 Bbbls to over 250 Bbbls. All these estimates come from "experts". Conclusion? No one really knows what's there.
Dunno so much about the coastal fields. I'll have to look into those. Have any links?

GAS WOULD BE A LOT CHEAPER IF YOU LIBERALS WOULD WAKE UP AND QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT OUR ADDICTION TO FOREIGN OIL
***************************************************************************************
Drop the "foreign" part of that and you have it. The US is addicted to OIL. Period. It doesn't matter where it comes from. WHERE it comes from isn't nearly as important as HOW MUCH we stick in our veins.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE HAVE OIL RIGHT HERE AND PLENTY OF IT, AND YOU LIBERAL DUMB IDIOTS ARE THE ONES BLOCKING THE OIL RESERVES OFF THE COAST AND IN ALASKE
