* Investec Pty Ltd have acquired 7,682,715 shares in AFD, representing 10.09%

of the company on behalf of investors.

* This increases the Botswana based holding in African Diamonds to more

than 15%.

African Diamonds plc, the AIM and Botswana listed diamond Company (AIM: AFD), is

pleased to inform shareholders that in recent weeks Investec of Botswana, on

behalf of investors, have acquired 7,682,715 shares in African Diamonds at

prices between #1 and #1.15 per share. This represents 10.09% of the issued

share capital of the Company. Botswana based holders now hold in excess of 15%

of the Company.

John Teeling, Chairman commented;

'I am delighted with this purchase by Investec Botswana on behalf of their

investors. Over 10% of African Diamonds is a significant commitment and is very

positive news for our shareholders insofar as knowledgeable investors on the

ground in Botswana see value in our shares. The listing of African Diamonds on

the Botswana Stock Exchange as well as AIM is working well. Over 300 Botswanian

investors now hold in excess of 15% of the company.'
