Verint Systems Announces Speech Analytics Solution for Public Safety Operations

Business Wire
posted: 52 DAYS 4 HOURS AGO

Verint Systems Inc.:

APCO Canada 2009

Evraz Place, Regina, Saskatchewan

Booth #40

Following its speech analytics best practices announcement last month, Verint® Systems Inc. today announced that its award-winning speech analytics software—as part of the broader Impact 360® for Public Safety Powered by Audiolog™ solution—is being profiled at the 2009 APCO Canada Annual Conference.

Emergency call recordings provide a wealth of information and can help improve public safety center operations, detect trends and support crime investigations. Historically, reviewing enough calls to identify performance trends and challenges has been a manual task that many centers don’t have the resources to fulfill. Public safety operations also often lack formalized quality and analysis processes—such as those available through integrated voice/screen recording—leaving them with only a limited view of what is really happening across their operations.

Verint’s Impact 360 Speech Analytics Essentials for Audiolog will, when available, provide these capabilities by automatically transcribing emergency contact audio into data that can be mined for intelligence. An easy-to-use interface will give public safety answering points (PSAPs) the ability to identify opportunities that can make their centers more efficient and effective, while proactive trend spotting tools can uncover issues before they become widespread problems. The software will provide guided, visual search tools to aid users in uncovering insights within all related recorded calls. This will not only support public safety agencies by helping investigators uncover facts during emergency situations, but also identify staff training and process improvement opportunities.

For example, to help improve response time and effectiveness for common emergencies—such as treating a wound or a broken leg—PSAP quality supervisors will be able to easily find recorded interactions where operators have handled that type of situation well and create best practice scenarios for training purposes.

The patent-protected speech analytics solution will have the capability to index every word and phrase identified for context and meaning. For instance: a PSAP will be able to search for when and where the terms “gang,” “shot” and “fired” were spoken and why. It can then isolate respective conversations for further investigation, and with trend analysis, reveal activity around these terms. By determining root causes early enough, law enforcement may be able to initiate preventive measures and help curtail incidents and crimes.

“Bringing speech analytics to the public safety market is further reinforcement that Verint is committed to the growing needs of public safety operations,” says Nancy Treaster, senior vice president and general manager, Verint® Witness Actionable Solutions®. “By applying analytics capabilities that have been proven in other verticals, PSAPs will be able to leverage a unique set of trend-spotting functionality to help reduce crime and improve the quality of life for citizens, as well as provide sophisticated tools to aid investigators in leveraging emergency services interactions in ongoing investigations.”
