TippingPoint N-Platform Receives JITC Certification

Business Wire
posted: 23 DAYS 14 HOURS AGO

TippingPoint, a 3Com subsidiary and a leader in network security solutions, has achieved Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification for its intrusion prevention system (IPS) platform and management solution. Both the TippingPoint 2500N and 5100N IPS models, and the Security Management System (SMS), were tested and certified for IPv6 Capability under the JITC certification, one of the highest levels of accreditation granted by the U.S. Department of Defense.

The TippingPoint 2500N and 5100N (N-Platform IPS) are two of the models available from TippingPoint’s recently announced N-Platform. The N-Platform is a new intrusion prevention system (IPS) platform with a newly-designed Threat Suppression Engine (TSE) that adds significant capacity for deep packet traffic inspection. The two IPS Platforms – as well as the SMS – successfully completed the related IPv6 Interoperability portions of the Defense Department’s JITC testing plan and are now listed on the Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Products List (APL) as IPv6 Capable.

JITC was created by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to test and certify information technology and national security systems. JITC certified products are listed according to function on an Approved Products List, which enables agencies within the Department of Defense to quickly see which products can be used on their networks.

“The move to IPv6 environments has created a challenge for our federal government customers who struggle to achieve comprehensive network inspection in mixed IP settings. With this certification, TippingPoint delivers a comprehensive IPS solution will help our customers maintain security throughout this transition,” said Alan Kessler, president of TippingPoint. “This is a tremendous accomplishment for our new IPS Platforms and underscores our commitment to providing the highest quality network protection for these customers.”
