Schlage LiNK™ Remote Home-Management System Now Widely Available Online and in More Than 5,000 Stores Nationwide

Business Wire
posted: 16 DAYS 11 HOURS AGO

With the addition of online partners TigerDirect.com, CircuitCity.com and CompUSA.com, the Schlage LiNK™ home-management system is now available through 17 online retailers and in more than 4,500 RadioShack and 650 Lowe’s stores across the country. The list of e-tailers also includes Lowes.com, RadioShack.com and powerhouse Amazon.com.

The Schlage LiNK System includes a wireless lock or deadbolt and is built around Z-Wave® technology, which enables homeowners to lock and unlock doors, monitor live camera feeds, and control temperature, lighting and other devices from any computer and most Web-enabled mobile phones, including Apple’s iPhone and RIM’s BlackBerry smartphones.

“In addition to being the most affordable remote home-management system on the market—and the only do-it-yourself solution—the Schlage LiNK System is readily available no matter where you live,” said Dwight Gibson, Vice President and General Manager, Connected Home Solutions for Ingersoll Rand, the parent company of Schlage. “Consumers can shop online or visit their local RadioShack or Lowe’s to check out the system and its accessory options firsthand.”

In-Store Displays Show the Possibilities

Highlighting the flexibility and expandability of the Schlage LiNK/Z-Wave wireless ecosystem, in-store displays illustrate how the system works and include the following:

  • Schlage LiNK Starter Kit ($299) – Provides everything you need to set up a wireless Z-Wave network at home, including one Schlage® wireless deadbolt or lever lock, the Schlage Bridge, which connects to the home’s existing router and enables wireless control of the system, and a light module; deadbolts and locks are available in satin nickel, aged bronze and bright brass finishes.
  • Schlage wireless deadbolts and lever locks ($199 each)
  • Schlage WCW100 wireless camera ($179) and WCE100 wired camera ($149)
  • Trane Remote Energy Management Thermostat ($149, model TZEMT400AB32)

In RadioShack, Schlage LiNK is displayed with an assortment of Z-Wave accessories from GE/Jasco, including dimmer switches, plug-in modules and remote control handsets that allow you to operate appliances.

Convenient, Affordable Home Management

In addition to eliminating the need to carry or circulate keys, the Schlage LiNK System makes it easy to set up a Z-Wave wireless ecosystem that gives homeowners 24/7 control from a computer or cell phone, allowing them to:

  • Lock and unlock the door
  • Receive email or text alerts when a specific access code is entered on the keypad of the wireless door lock—a great feature for parents of latchkey kids
  • Keep a 90-day log to track who’s coming and going and when
  • Easily set up and change entry codes (LiNK supports up to 19 codes)
  • Create temporary entry codes for a cleaning service, pet sitter, etc.
  • Check a door to see if it is locked, instead of returning home or calling a neighbor
  • Control lighting and conserve energy through remote thermostat management
  • Program the system to automatically turn on lights or adjust the temperature when a specific access code is entered into the lock’s keypad
  • See what’s going on at home via a live video-camera feed

The Schlage LiNK System can support up to 232 Z-Wave devices, all of which would be covered under one $12.99 per month subscription fee.

Award-Winning Technology and Design

The Schlage LiNK System has received CE Pro magazine’s 2009 Innovative Housing Technology Award in the Security and Safety category, Constructech magazine’s Top New Products for 2009 Award, honoring the most innovative technology solutions developed for the homebuilding market, and Design Journal ’s ADEX GOLD Award for design excellence. ADEX stands for Awards for Design Excellence and is the largest awards program for furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade.
