Easter Seals Arkansas utilized the AHP grant in conjunction with a $1.2 million Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 811 Program grant to construct Wilson Court II. This is the third project of its kind that Easter Seals Arkansas has coordinated with HUD.
"We are grateful to IBERIABANK and FHLB Dallas for investing with HUD and Easter Seals to provide quality housing for adults with disabilities," said Sharon Moone-Jochums, President and CEO of Easter Seals Arkansas. "It is critical to provide safe and affordable housing to adults with disabilities, as well as the opportunity for them to live independently and be able to participate in their community." Of the 15 units, Wilson Court has four two-bedroom apartments, 10 one-bedroom apartments, and one apartment for an onsite manager. The facility also offers a community room, laundry room, and a management office. Construction began in July 2008 and by April 2009 the first tenants had moved in.
"We are proud to partner with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas to invest in such an important endeavor," says Jerry Vascocu, President of IBERIABANK Little Rock. "This opportunity allows us to support Easter Seals and an essential facility that provides critical services." Representatives from FHLB Dallas and IBERIABANK will be in attendance at today's dedication ceremony.
