Inspire’s President and CEO Christy Shaffer Receives Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Highest Award

Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISPH) announced today that Christy L. Shaffer, Ph.D., President and CEO, received the Breath of Life Award, which is the most important recognition awarded to an individual or company by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) for extraordinary commitment and contributions to support the work of the CFF. Dr. Shaffer was presented the award at the 23rd annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference in Minneapolis, MN.

“Dr. Christy Shaffer has been an extraordinary advocate for those with cystic fibrosis (CF), both through her role as President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, as well as her tireless efforts to help the CF Foundation raise funds to support vital programs,” said C. Richard Mattingly, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “She is truly a person of commitment, great heart and enormous kindness, and we treasure her.”

For more than a decade, Dr. Shaffer has directed many efforts in the support of CF patients and research. She was the first member of the CFF’s National Corporate Leadership Council and currently serves as Board Chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the CFF. She has led Inspire in its development of denufosol tetrasodium as a promising potential early intervention treatment for CF lung disease.
