Army National Guard (ARNG) Bureau Awards Concurrent Technologies Corporation $3.4M Contract
JOHNSTOWN, Pa., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) was awarded a competitively bid contract by the Army National Guard (ARNG) Bureau for a base year value of over $600,000 and optional years totaling over $2.8M for a total contract value of $3.4M. Through this contract, CTC will provide the ARNG with technical and management support for the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) at ARNG State sites. VPP is a program designed to decrease workplace injuries and illnesses and promote a culture of safety. Further, by creating formalized documentation and processes, a VPP recognized safety and health management system provides work sites with quantified metrics; making progress both obvious and motivating at the personnel level and facilitating coordination of safety activities with headquarters at the organizational level.
Throughout the base year and option years, CTC will perform VPP implementation support for ARNG State sites at all 50 U.S. States and 4 territories.
"We are very pleased to continue supporting the ARNG in their proactive safety initiatives," said Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., CTC President & Chief Executive Officer. "This award from ARNG is a testament of the knowledge, capabilities, and outstanding work performed by our professionals in the Safety and Occupational Health discipline area."
In 2005, CTC was selected by the Department of Defense (DoD) to operate the VPP Center of Excellence (CX). This involves assessing installations' safety and health (S&H) performance with the goal of reducing occupational injuries and illnesses and receiving recognition for having a world-class S&H management system. CTC currently assists at least 40 new DoD installations annually in the pursuit of VPP Star, which is OSHA's recognition of a world-class S&H system. To date, CTC has helped various military installations obtain their OSHA VPP Star Status with the Services forecasting about 20 additional Star sites during Calendar Year 2009. CTC provides the following services to help implement VPP: engagement visits, baseline assessments, implementation support (on-site or remotely), webinars, on-site courses, training development, and tools developed specifically for VPP implementation support.
