Ansaldo STS USA Wins $13M PAAC Contract

PITTSBURGH, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ansaldo STS USA (ASTS USA) has penned a $13 million (USD) subcontract agreement with Wellington Power Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA, for the Port Authority of Allegheny County's (PAAC) North Shore Connector project to extend the light rail system 1.2 miles.

The extension will connect the downtown area of Pittsburgh with the city's North Shore via an underground tunnel beneath the Allegheny River.

The contract involves the design and implementation of a system interlocking and wayside signal system for the new relay rooms at Allegheny Station and North Side Station, and modifications in the existing Gateway Station relay room and the Wood Street Station interlocking relay room.

ASTS USA will also deliver a communications subsystem that includes fiber optic transmission, variable message signage, digital video surveillance and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).

The Company will design modifications for the existing Authority Operations Control Center (OCC) to support the added facilities and equipment.
