3Com Corporation Honored with Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada) Licensing Achievement Award

3Com Corporation has been honored with the prestigious Licensing Achievement Award from the Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada).

3Com earned the award for its profitable intellectual property management activities during its 2009 Fiscal Year, which ended May 29, 2009.

The major accomplishment of 3Com in the 2009 fiscal year was the licensing and sales of patented networking technology across several deals for a combined $87 Million.

In addition, 3Com continued its history of success at the Ocean Tomo Live Patent Auctions with another sale of a patent at the October 2008 Auction. 3Com was an early supporter of the Ocean Tomo Auctions, and has succeeded in this venue beyond all other companies.

“3Com was very successful in its intellectual property management activities during a year where most companies reported a slowdown in these activities,” said Rimma Driscoll of Procter & Gamble Company, co-chair of the 2009 LES Awards Committee. “This level of achievement makes 3Com a worthy recipient of this award.”

The Licensing Achievement Award is the most prestigious recognition that an organization can receive from LES.

The award was established to acknowledge those organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to licensing or other technology transfer activity. All types of licensing and technology transfer subject matter are considered. The selection criteria include:

• Contribution to the progress or recognition of licensing as a business activity
• Long-term licensing success
• Innovative licensing programs
• Distinguished licensing success as compared to peers

The Licensing Achievement Award is extraordinary and is granted from time to time to a deserving candidate, as determined by the LES Trustees. Previous award winners were:
