Standard&Poor's changes up US indices
NEW YORK (AP) — Standard&Poor's announced switches to its indices Thursday.
S&P 500 constituent News Corp. will replace Wyeth Corp. in the S&P 100, and First Solar Inc. will replace Wyeth in the S&P 500. The effective dates have not yet been announced.
Wyeth is being acquired by S&P 100&500 constituent Pfizer Inc. in a deal expected to close pending final approvals.
First Solar, based in Tempe, Ariz., designs and manufactures solar modules. Its shares gained $7.21, or 5 percent, to $150.97 in after-hours trading, after shedding $9.10 during the regular session.
Shares of media conglomerate News Corp. rose 13 cents to $13.42 in after-hours trading, after slipping 70 cents, or 5 percent, to $13.29 during the regular session.
