Recalls this week: Toys sets, chargers, generators
Toys with plastic nails that can present a choking hazard top the list of this week's recalls. Some 1.6 million toy workshops and trucks are being recalled after one of the nails lodged in the throat of an 11-month-old boy who recovered. Other major recalls for the week include battery recharging stations that can overheat, and gasoline-driven generators that can present a fire hazard.
Here's a list of items manufacturers recalled this week:
PRODUCT: Toy tool workshop sets and toy trucks with tools manufactured in the U.S. and China by Little Tikes Co. of Hudson, Ohio. Five types of sets involved in the recall were sold on the Little Tikes Web site and by retailers nationwide, including Toys "R'' Us, beginning as early as 1994 for one toy set and ending as recently as June 2009 for another.
HOW MANY: About 1.6 million
WHY: The recalled workshop sets and trucks have oversized, plastic toy nails that can pose a choking hazard to young children. The oversized red and blue nails are about 3 1/4 inches long. An 11-month old boy from Goose Creek, S.C. choked when a nail became lodged in his throat. He was hospitalized and fully recovered.

PRODUCT: Psyclone Essentialsand React Wii 4-dock battery recharging stations, manufactured in China and distributed by Griffin International Cos. Inc. of Minneapolis. The Psyclone Essentials stations were sold at Target, Toys "R'' Us and Amazon.com nationwide. The React stations were sold at Best Buy stores nationwide. Both were available between January 2008 and July 2009.
HOW MANY: About 220,000
WHY: The battery pack can overheat. The company has received six reports of overheating, including two hand burns.

PRODUCT: Homelite, Husky and Black Max brand generators, made in China and distributed by Homelite Consumer Products Inc. of Anderson, S.C. The recalled Homelite and Husky brand generators were sold at Home Depot stores and the Black Max brand generators were sold at Sam's Club stores. Generators in the recall have manufacturing date codes between BML306-BMM151, CHL122-CHM151 and CRL153-CRM059. The products were sold nationwide from July 2008 through May 2009.
HOW MANY: About 51,750
WHY: The fuel gauge can leak high amounts of gasoline, posing a fire hazard. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

PRODUCT: Nautilus F3 Chin Dip stationary exercise units distributed by Nautilus Inc. of Vancouver, Wash. and made by Land America Health and Fitness Co., of China. The recalled units were sold by Nautilus direct distributors to fitness centers nationwide from May 2007 through February 2009 for about $1,300.
HOW MANY: About 400
WHY: The footpads on the unit can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported.

PRODUCT: Barr Laboratories Inc. is recalling 100-count bottles of 20-milligram tablets of dextroamphetamine saccharate, amphetamine aspartate, dextroamphetamine sulfate and amphetamine sulfate with lot number 311756. The recalled tablets were distributed between June 11 and June 16.
WHY: The tablets are recalled because they could be larger than indicated, leading to super-potent doses. This could result in adverse cardiovascular, neurological, psychiatric and gastrointestinal reactions. No incidents have been reported.

PRODUCT: Liberte Brand Products is recalling 6-ounce Liberte Mediterranee Wild Blackberry Yogourt products with the code date of Sept. 2. The recalled yogurt was distributed nationwide in the U.S. Its UPC code is 0 65684 65434 5.
WHY: The product might contain walnuts and plums not declared on its packaging. Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat the product. No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the Quebec, Canada, company.
