ORBCOMM names new director
FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) — ORBCOMM Inc. said Wednesday it has named a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general to its board.
The satellite communications company said it has elected John R. Wood. His appointment will be effective Sept. 1, with his term running through the company's 2012 annual meeting. Adding Wood to the board expands it to nine seats.
Wood served as an officer in the U.S. Army for more than 36 years, the company said.
ORBCOMM shares rose 13 cents, or 6.6 percent, to $2.11 in afternoon trading.
