Helicos wins $2.9 million NIH grant
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Helicos BioSciences Corp. said Thursday it received a $2.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health's National Human Genome Research Institute.
The two-year grant is part of the company's genome sequencing technology program. The company focuses on genetic analysis systems used in medical research.
The grant will fund research on the chemistry and molecular biology underlying the company's technology.
Shares of Helicos rose 8 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $2.89 in morning trading. The stock has traded between 21 cents and $3.54 over the last 52 weeks.
