Commerzbank Q3 net loss widens to €1.06 billion
FRANKFURT (AP) — Germany's Commerzbank AG has confirmed that its net loss widened in the third quarter as it continues to restructure in the wake of the financial crisis.
Commerzbank, based in Frankfurt, said Thursday it lost €1.06 billion ($1.6 billion) in the July-September period, nearly four times the €285 million it lost in the third quarter of 2008.
Net interest income for the period, one measure of revenue, has risen to €1.77 billion from €1.21 billion in the July-September period of 2008.
The results are in line with preliminary earnings released earlier this week.
