Let's lay-off the comments about AARP's political proclivities and stick to the basics with services that are rendered and offered by them for those who aren't familiar with this organization yet. The comments from the readers are quite revealing....mostly negative. I will study their programs as a result of your comments about their offers with a jaundice eye as I will need to come to grips with medical insurance program decisions in conjunction with medicare very shortly. Outside of that, AAA is a good organization for other services that AARP is offering.

AARP is just another socialist organization with a radical agenda. Most folks join for the perceived discounts, but end up being deceived. Boomers beware!

I stopped renewing my AARP last year. I realized that their ads were misleading to say nothing of some of their articles. Example: Vacuum cleaner special for AARP members was so special that it cost $50 more than you could buy it at any vacuum clearner shop or department store. The End ,,,

It is about time SENIORS realized that AARP is not a reliable resource for anything. It provides inappropriate, self-limiting and often harmful, costly information. Seniors should cancel their AARP membership and use the cash for a dinner to celebrate.

It is about time, someone told the American people about AARP. Biggest scam ever on the seniors of America. Shame on the politicians like Rockefeller who either thru greed or ignorance sing their praises.

Had United Health Care insurance through AARP for several years. My first claim was for surgery, The bills totaled $22,000. AARP paid $175. All the effort by us only made them more resolved to screw us over. If you have insurance through AARP, God help you--AARP won't. Canceled their insurrance and ended oyr membership. HOPE YOU RETIRED ARE LISTENING!!!!!

AARP - Worth it? Nope......Gave it up because it was too costly.....Shop around and you will find much better pricing - even on Health Care.....

AARP is nothing more than a FOR-PROFIT business masquerading as a NON-PROFIT and taking advantage of seniors in this country. They do not have any of their own products, but tell their clients, "Yes, you're insured with AARP" when they really are insured with a whole different company. Freaking misrepresenting liars is all they are.

AARP is a LEFT Wing group that hates America, hates the NRA and hence doesnot support the right to defend oneself.
Not a chance in hell I would EVER join.
