The state governments claim that they want to "make it fair" should be your first clue.....whenever you hear that phrase.....LOOK OUT! Do not let them start an internet sales tax, or it will never end. Remember the income tax...it was started in 1913 and was supposed to "make it fair" and only go after people with huge incomes....care to guess what happened? Government MUSt learn to live within its means...like the rest of us. DO NOT be fooled by class warfare...get the rich guys rhetoric.....the Gov. is the biggest special interest and you have to stand fast to protect yourself!!!

Equally important are these companies who advertise products on late night TV and charge taxes from those resident in certain states, even though the companies are not working out of those states. This is outrageous!! One of the real advantages of buying online is the absence of sales taxes. If I am buying something from someone in another state, there is no way I will pay sales taxes on that item.BTW....Madoff was just ordered to surrender something like $150 billion. California had better put in a claim for a BIG CHUNCK of that money, as much of the state's budget woe's are related to the ENRON scam, in which the state had heavily invested.
