MARYSVILLE, Ohio, May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Scotts Miracle-Gro
Company has undertaken a nationwide recall of four products due to concerns
regarding the status of their federal registrations. Two of the products are
not registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the other two
products are registered but are not properly labeled. Scotts has asked
consumers to stop use of the products and return any of the recalled products
to Scotts.

Two of the four recalled products are subject to a consumer recall. The
company is providing instructions for homeowners to participate in a
nationwide consumer recall of the following two lawn and garden products:
These products must be returned only in an approved shipping container,
which will be provided at no cost by the company. These products should not be
disposed of in any other way and should not be returned to the stores where
they were purchased. To obtain instructions on how to return the products,
consumers should visit www.Scotts.com or www.Miracle-Gro.com. They can also
call the company at 1-888-295-0671. Consumers may also contact the U.S. EPA's
National Pesticides Information Center at 1-800-858-7378, 6:30 am - 4:30 pm
(PDT) 7 days a week or visit the U.S. EPA website regarding this recall at
www.epa.gov/reg5rcra/ptb/news/.
Consumers who participate in the recall will be provided with a full
refund for the original purchase price as well as coupon good towards their
next purchase of Scotts or Miracle-Gro products. They also will be sent the
shipping materials, which will provide instructions on how to return the
products free of charge.
Until the shipping materials arrive, consumers should keep the products
away from children and pets. Products should be securely stored in a cool,
dry location, such as a secure cabinet.

Chief Executive Officer. "We want to stress that products should not be
returned to the store where they were purchased and we apologize for any
inconvenience that this creates."
Another product, TurfBuilder Max Plus 2 Weed & Feed and Crabgrass
Preventer (EPA Reg. No. 538-299), also has been recalled from retailers
because it was not properly labeled. However, consumers are not being asked to
return this product. A fourth product, Scotts LawnService Fertilizer with .28
Halts Pro (EPA Reg. No. 538-304) also has been recalled because it was not
registered with U.S. EPA. This product had only been used by lawn service
professionals and was never in retail distribution. It is no longer being
used by Scotts LawnService.
