S&P swaps Embarq with Western Digital

NEW YORK (AP) — Standard&Poor's said Thursday that S&P MidCap 400 constituent Western Digital Corp. will replace Embarq Corp. in the S&P 500.

Global data center services company Equinix Inc. will replace Western Digital on the S&P MidCap 400, which designs and develops hard drives, on a date yet to be announced.

Embarq, a telecommunication services company, is being purchased by S&P 500 constituent telecommunications provider CenturyTel Inc.
