If I was the member of an airline board of directors, I would bring in as CEO someone with experience in the hotel industry, which has added frills to hotel rooms while successfully increasing room rates.

Or someone who understands branding, such as Coke, McDonald's, etc. Jim Cramer once said that Con Agra finally understood that it didn't didn't sell food. It sold brands. So, it hired as its current CEO a gentleman from Pepsi.

The ultimate would be someone from Disney who ran the theme parks and/or the cruise line. Thus, you would have someone who understood the concept of always improving hospitality and branding.

This is the reality of the airline business and given the price sensitivity of the consumer it is nearly impossible to raise fares. This concludes AIRLINE MARKETING 1
