You all are lucky that there is no READING TEST required to qualify for the rebate.

AMERICAN taxpayers who PAY TAXES and file joint returns with their noncitizen spouses are being denied the rebate while they wait (and wait and wait) for their spouse to receive a valid SSN. These noncitizen spouses are not here illegally. Nor are they cheating the system; they are plodding through the required paperwork and waiting for an SSN.

And if you read further, you'd learn that this could even affect our servicemen and women married to foreign nationals, including citizens of allies like Great Britain, Canada, Australia, etc., etc.

It is the AMERICAN who is being denied the rebate. Do you get it NOW?

I am married for three years to an American citizen, I have and ITIN # for tax purposes. My husband cannot get the rebate, he is an american! Fair point that I should not get it but why deprive my husband? He works hard all year round and we input to the economy all year round too! Immigration process is a very slow one and I do not have a social security # yet. We are probably going to employ an attourney to expadite the process, I would love to be working and contributing to the economy here!!

LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT. Only the American should get the rebate check. Not the spouse. I don't know about the rest of you? But I am getting sick and tired of giving away Social Security,Welfare,Food Stamps and whatever to people who come to this country expecting a "Handout".

I DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO CLAIM MY MILTARY DISABILTY (WHICH IS NOT TAXABLE). THAT WOULD HAVE PUT ME OVER THE AMOUNT FOR A SINGLE WHITE MALE.

Your VA disabiity payment is not counted as 'Income' either for tax purposes, or the stimulus. You are not required to list the VA disability payment on any of your tax forms. Check with the IRS and/or a tax advisor. I hope this helps.

Two points:
1st of all, what in the hell does this article have to do with Hillary or Obama or McCain. It has to do with a policy that is seriously flawed and the only signature (aka fingerprints) on it is that of GW.
2nd, and more on a personal note - do you also realize that folks like me who have worked all their life and had to retire (total disability) and who are still fighting the folks at Social Security who love to say NO to the likes of me but hand benefits to illegals who never paid a cent in taxes, also are not eligible for the stimulus checks. You see, I pay taxes like you BUT it's on a pension which is not considered "earned income".
Can't believe more retirees are not up in arms over this. But maybe after being in the great old USA all these years and seeing how in the last 7 plus years it's really turned to $h*t they feel that there is no use. Congress is useless and the President is an idiot. What a country!!!
