7 gallons of Biodiesel replaces 1 barrel of oil, waste vegetable oil converted to biodiesel could replace our need for imported oil. That demand reduction would reduce prices on gasoline. and you don't have to wait for the government you can do it yourself. www.biodiesel.org make biodiesel for less than a dollar a gallon. Then watch the oil future traders lose their shirts, pants, and a$$es

the economic, and energy problem needs public intervention-------those in washington are talkers but we see no action ! call, or e-mail, or write your senators and congressmen and let them know exactly how you feel, and what you expect of them......its hard for them to turn a deaf ear if they are swamped with mail, or phone calls from the public ! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !

We have 324 refineries in this country now. Small ones have been bought up, expanded and upgraded. Others have ALL been upgraded and expaned.
Richard Nixon, not tree huggers or the EPA, signed all the environmental laws from the 70s. You need to go back and see the mess this country was without those laws then. Much like China looks NOW.
Last week, they were actually talking about closing some refineries. The owners, not the gov or EPA.
Refineries have ramped down production because of profits. Also, the switch between winter and summer blend gasoline.
They were running at 96% in years past. Just recently, they were at 80%. But, have increased in the past 2 weeks to 85%, still much lower.
The cost of oil is high due to the weaker US dollar, more consumption worldwide, especially China, India and the ME. And then add on the weak housing market, it makes commodities MUCH more attractive. So, put the speculators on the spotlight for using every single glitch in the system to d

Big OIL hasn't built a new refinery in 30 years. People blame the EPA because it takes 5 years to get it approved through the EPA and 10 years to get it operational. They knew this was the case so why didn't they start the process when they were closing some of these older refineries down? Its Easy, Supply and Demand. Demand up, Supply down, Prices go up, up and away.

Google the Bakken oil fields.
Hydrogen, solar, wind, geothermal, tidal and bio fuels are ALL making massives gains in the market. Just because the gov. is not bringing them up, or the news stories about oil don't mention the alternatives, does not mean no one is working on better solutions.
Corps, private companies and individuals are taking the problems to task and doing something about it.
Barack and Hillary both have an egergy agenda. Just because the GOP has blocked any new regulations and implementing new laws, doesn't mean its not being done outside the gov while "w" used his veto pen and the GOP fillibusters or stalls bills.
You have the entire world at your finger tips, LOOK up what you want to know.

Oyevette:
Our problem is not so much inventories or drilling as much as it is refining.
Munchiecheeks2 01:55:37 PM May 07 2008
The oil industry as a whole, has made 477 billion (not counting the 2007 numbers) in net profit over the last six years.
This is only the ones here.

Who is the answer? Clinton? McCain? Perhaps Obama but what does he really know? He's just a politician too. You don't think Hillary will say anything to get elected? You don't think Obama or McCain will say anything to get elected? And look at the process, especially on the Democratic side. Totally screwed up.
I don't have an answer. But, I KNOW what is happenening today, and especially since Dick Cheney and the boys have been in power, is corruption at its
