The only deterrent against a repetition of this type of debacle in the future, would be to indict and prosecute upper managment for criminal fraud, and to IMPEACH both George Bush and Dick Cheney for misfeasance and malfeasance.

If our political and corporate "leaders" are not held responsible for the criminal aspects of this "pyramid scheme" then there is nothing to deter future "leaders' from doing the same thing agains. Examples have to be made; and management has to be held responsible for their irresponsble and (I think) criminal) actions.

Based on the mortgage brokers that I know, if given the chance again, they would do the same thing overagain as far as selling to anyone whomever they could get "approved" to purchase a home . . .. they earn their commission income by selling; and don't consider it their responsibility to "qualify the buyers" any more than corporate requires.

Alan Greenspan's support for "industry self regulation" is like putting the foxes in charge of the hen houses . . .. that simply isn't EVER going to work. Greenspan must be an "intellectual without any 'common sense'".
