Hey RNactivist--we don't need to further "socialize" our workforce. Everyone get behind a Federal Right to Work Law and let's be rid of these mob infested lowllife organizations we call unions.

JWCESQ1 11:55:28 AM Aug 11 2008

rebuild union power???????????????? I'm dying laughing. The very a**holes who caused the problem now want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What we need is to de-certify as many unions as possible, as quickly as possible. These pro-union idiots don't realize that union membership is now about 8-10% of the entire workforce. It used to be about 50%. Can you say dying????? Union power is GONE--and thank God. In fact, if it weren't for public employoees, Union workforce would be about 2%. However, the damage they have inflicted on this great land is lasting. I say let's put them out of their misery. It is directly becuase of unions that you can't by a car--even a worthless piece of crap, for under $25,000 to $30,000. Paying obscene hourly rates for useless employees--that's union.

MchFoun 10:44:44 AM Aug 11 2008..............................You are right. I was a union member for 30 years. I have a pension that I get monthly. I also HAD a 401k that was doing pretty well, most of it is gone now along with the money I invested. Thanks Wall St. Some 20 years ago a co worker and myself were talking about the future of the unions nationwide and we agreed that tough times were ahead. That unions would suffer in our working lifetime. Well they have. We also were of the opinion that they had overstepped thier boundaries and an adjustment would be in the future. Unions are not going away and my opinion is they will re emerge and will benefit the entire economy. Unions have been blamed for the near demise of the auto industry in the U.S. Now mos American cars are built in Mexico and Canada. The auto makers claiming lower wages helps them compete. They got what they wanted and still can't compete, but the unions take the blame. I call bullshit.

CWA and VERIZON, Are to be commended for stepping up to the plate and smackin' one out of the ballpark, this time. You both scored big, on this one. So a Standing ovation and a big SALUTE!.

MchFoun 10:44:44 AM Aug 11 2008

I think it is time for Unions across America, to take the lead on the next phase of overall benefits and parity -for the worker "Bees? Sooo, why not adopt Industrial Democracy, in the workplace? It'll be a first and no it ain't socialism or none of those "other ism's" that opponents always use to derail a good cause. Noooooooo, you won't hear any politico talkin' about it muchless taking a "stand" on it but thats just the nature of politicians. Anyway, something to think about, perhaps?

Bcj2156 10:18:40 AM Aug 11 2008

Congratulations to Verizon and the CWA. Good job by everyone involved. And for the poster that thinks his wallet will get opened because of this agreement, you need to rethink your stand. Your wallet has been CLOSED by union busting since the 80's that started under Reagan. All the while everything under the sun has been deregulated. Name one of your great non union companies that have filed injuctions in the court system against NAFTA and Mexican trucks entering the U.S.---------------if you can.

Al Bon 28 09:58:31 AM Aug 11 2008

verizon customers, get out your wallet, time for the price to go up. I hate verizon.I'm so glad I dumped them two years ago.

RNactivist 09:27:07 AM Aug 11 2008

Here is the bottom line..historically union workers make more money and have better benefits than non union....France is 95% union and the government fears the people....here its the opposite...the people here fear the government.....Yet people have businesses in France....they have the number one health care system as well....they have great benefits....minimum wage is $12.00... We need to rebuild union power and take America back from corporate America...Pass the Employee Free Choice Act and let more join unions if they wish..

RNactivist 09:17:31 AM Aug 11 2008

We need more people to join unions so they too can get better wages and benefits......thats why the Employee Free Choice act needs to get passed......Unhappy with your wages and benefits? Think union....CWA you rock! Come join us!

Jeffarobi 09:11:41 AM Aug 11 2008

I have been on both sides of the coin here and I'm here to say "union is the way!"your nothing but a number to most employers nowdays so you might as well have a union number to go with it. Before going union I worked for a contractor that belonged to a association. Thants another word for "union" but its for buisness owners to get together and say that were only gonna pay this little bit for a top man. So it didn't matter where you went in town, the pay was the same..
