regarding: dasunx 02:39:17 PM Jul 22 2008 "Bradstrick2001: Ok, lets drill in Iraq. Number one, we don't own that oil and Number two, we will need to keep an army over there in hopes of protecting the investment and the wells. Is that what you want when we have just as much or more oil here." ---------00000000000000000------------------- Did you ever notice how many people claimed the only reason we waged war on Iraq was to get their oil and then complained that we did not steal it all when we got there? Iraq was selling all the oil we would let them before we conquered them. Of course, now , the amount we allowed was limited because we were imposing sanctions on Iraq, but that was our choice, not Saddam's-unless you consider his refusal to comply with UN mandates..

Regarding: "I think we have to recognize that the days of cheap energy are a thing of the past. " ---------------------000000000000000000000---------------------- not sure you are right, not sure you are wrong. If nothing changes, cheap energy is a goner but things always change. For example some processes for converting all cellulosic material into ethanol are being piloted out of University of Florida right now. That might keep cheap energy coming. Folks building heliostat solar plants in Spain noted that the cost for each new plant was fifteen percent lower than the previous plant due to improved experience. It still costs twelve cents per kilowatt-hour but they expect to drop it to 8 soon
