TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 2) — NBC said on the eve of Sunday's Super Bowl that it has sold the last two of the 69 advertising spots for the game, pushing total ad revenue for the event to a record $206 million.
The network said its total of $261 million in ad revenue for all of Super Bowl day also is a record, calling it an especially impressive feat in the middle of the economy's steep downturn.
The Super Bowl is the premier advertising event with an U.S. audience of 100 million viewers, many of whom watch closely during game breaks for the debut of entertaining, big-budget commercials. The ads have sold for between $2.4 million and $3 million per 30-second slot this year.
"These advertising milestones show the power of the NFL brand and the strength of the Super Bowl as a TV property in this economic climate," said Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of NBC Universal, a unit of General Electric Co. "The Super Bowl has become one of our country's biggest holidays, a uniquely American day, and advertisers recognized the value in being a part of it."
Thirty-two advertisers in all will showcase their products during Super Bowl coverage.
NBC said the ads featured during the game also will be available for viewing almost immediately after they air at Web sites including NBC.com, Hulu.com and Superbowl.com.

THE ONLY AD'S THAT WERE ANY GOOD WERE THE ONE'S WITH ANIMAL'S IN THEM, AND I DON'T MEAN 2 LEGGED ONE'S. THEY NEED TO KEEP THE GARBAGE AD'S FOR A TIME WHEN KIDS ARE NOT WATCHING THE GAME.

While the ads are airing, I am scanning the other stations to see if something more interesting is on. I am a football fan but the money spent on ads, especially during the Super Bowl is apalling. It would be interesting to know how much Nutri-System, Vonage and AARP spends on ads for a year.

Murder is still murder regardless if a body is inside a womb or out side a womb. It is still a life form that has potential.Think of abortion as eradication of a natural resource. I wonder if Obama was aborted before his birth by his single mom, abandoned by his father, who would be President today ? Go figure! Its ironic and nonsensical to understand this 'attack' on life itself unless it is based in 'evil' and centered in 'ego fear'.

The Super Bowl add that was pulled by NBC is the one I am voting for. No it wasn't a show of female body parts ad but an ad directly targeted to Obama's free choice abortion stance in the Freedom of Choice Act which is supposed to be of benefit to people who are discriminated against. Check it out ask NBC what was cut. The beings who do not, however, benefit from this act are the unborn. Since the ad was anti-abortion it was probably not considered as appropriate for this venue. Go figure! With the current administration hell bent on reversing certain right for life policies we may all experience a downward trend of moral decay similar to that of the Roman and Greek empires.Don't get me wrong I am for 'free choice' but with taking responsibility for that choice. Eradication of the unborn can be compared to the German holocaust or Rwanda genocide for ethnic cleansing. Murder is still murder regardless if a body is inside a womb or out side a womb. It is still a life form that has potent

I didn't see too many commercials. Then again I turned on the TV for the last 8 minutes of the game.

Looks like I am in the majority here. The ads were overall weak, Springsteen was gasping for breath and NBC pushed their programs like crazy. The camera coverage was good though during close calls.

THEY DID WELL TOO NOT TO DO A COMMERCIAL WITH PARIS HILTON WHO IS CURRENTLY EVADING FEDERAL PROSECUTION FOR HEINOUS FEDERAL CRIMES AGAINST AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. SINCERELY, BRANDON M. WITTE
