Ford, Gm, Chrysler will all perish without the help of Ol-Uncle Sam. It is a mulititude of things. Bad logic, failer to re-tool, Unions, Lazy workers, Greed, Lack of perfection, and on and on.I worker for two motor companies for a small time in the early 1980s. Ford and Honda. Honda actually gave a damn, Ford did not. This goes for most of the workers too. America needs to wake up fast. With normal exceptions heres the deal. We have become a nation of fat, semi retarded, arrogant, Politically correct to the point of insanity, Hyper Individualist (non-nationalist), greedy, dilusional, screw the man attitude, arrogant, expect everyone else to foot the bill, I guess I could go on. In other words about 85% of the people in America living today would have been made feel ashame of their behavior 50 years ago. 85% of Americans have no shame! No more high standards, in fact no standards at all. One last thing, work for 30 years and retire fat on the calf? This does not float.

I have NEVER owned a Ford I felt was worth keeping. Primary beef.... the starter system crapping out without any obvious symptoms beforehand. TWICE, I've had the starter cables catch fire by doing nothing more than turning the key.

It is no longer in question that the unions have had a big hand in draining the American auto companies. The union model worked ok until the North American market became a global market. At that point the unionized producers' days were numbered due to their uncompetitive labor costs. GM and Ford have been as benevolent as possible but now it is live or die. If the unions don't allow the companies to be competitive they will all die. I don't blame the unions for wanting to hang on to their gold-plated deal as long as possible, but at some point there has to be a realization that it cannot continue as it is. The game has changed and these companies must also change to survive. The days of upper-middle class wages for high school educated assemblers is gone, it no longer exists, how many examples do we need to see to believe it. It is a sad story but a true story.

It's a great idea to bring those new small models to the American market by 2012..... trouble is they'll never last that long.

TO CORRECT ALL PEOPLE ABOUT UNIONS, IT IS NOT THE MEMBERS WHO DRAIN AND DESTROY COMPANIES, PEOPLE ARE JUST ASKING FOR A LIVING WAGE AND SOME REST WHEN THEY GET OLD, I DONT THINK THAT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK. HOWEVER IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR THE EQUIVIALNT OF THE WAGE OF ABOUT 500 WORKERS. i.e. CEO's NOW THAT IS A WASTEFULL DRAIN ON ANY COMPANY.
