Your Favorite Mall Brands:
Where Are They Now?

10 Blasts From the Past

When was the last time you bought a pair of pants at Chess King? Or looked at a goofy poster at Spencer's featuring a buxom blond and the tagline: "Man can't live on beer alone"? Or stopped at Orange Julius for a refreshing, er, Orange Julius? Or bought a Pearl Jam CD at Sam Goody? We bet it's been a while.

Sometime between the mid-90s and today, you grew up, and the retailers that once lined the white-washed walkways of your favorite suburban shopping center became a distant memory.

Minyanville.com set out to discover what happened to the favorite mall brands of our youth. Which are gone for good? Which are still holding on? Click through our gallery to find out.

I found a coupon for a cool ********* called a TickleMe Plant and it is a real plant that you grow that will close its leaves and lower its branches when tickled. My students love it and 99% of the people that I give TickleMe Plants to have never had their own house plant that moves when tickled. You can get a TickleMe Plant Greenhouse to grow your own Just search THE TickleMe Plant and use the coupon code PLANT to get two dollars off.

All the vacant store fronts at the local mall is sad to see. It's a silent testament to our weak economy. But the other shoe hasn't really dropped yet. As hard as it is to admit, things will get worse before they get better. So much for being bright and cheery.
