U.S. Space Names Donald M. Kerr to its Board of Directors

DULLES, Va., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Space LLC, a 100% American owned and operated company offering unique military satellite communications on a commercial basis, today announced that it has named Donald M. Kerr as a member of its Board of Directors.
Dr. Kerr has held numerous high-ranking positions with the U.S. government, including Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence (2007-2009), Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (2005-2007), Deputy Director for Science and Technology at the Central Intelligence Agency (2001-2005), Assistant Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in charge of the Laboratory Division (1997-2001), and Director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (1979-1985), where he had earlier led research in high altitude weapons effects, nuclear test detection and analysis, weapons diagnostics, ionospheric physics, and alternative energy programs. In the private sector, Dr. Kerr has served as Corporate Executive Vice President and Director at Science Applications International Corporation and President and Director of EG&G, Inc. (1989-1992).
Currently a Research Professor at George Mason University's Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering, Dr. Kerr also is a member of the Board of Trustees for the MITRE Corporation. (A complete biography is available at http://www.usspacellc.com/ )

Dr. Kerr has been awarded numerous honors, including the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service (2009), the CIA Distinguished Intelligence Medal (2005), and the DOE Outstanding Service Award in July 1979.
Dr. Kerr's appointment expands the U.S. Space Board to six members. He joins Board Chairman Dr. Mark Albrecht, past President of Lockheed Martin's International Launch Services and Executive Director of the White House National Space Council; Air Force Major General (Ret.) Craig P. Weston, former Vice President and Deputy Director at SRA International and Chief Information Officer and Director of Research for the National Reconnaissance Office, whose last active duty assignment was in Kabul, Afghanistan; U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General (Ret.) Michael A. Hamel, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development for Orbital Sciences and former Commander of the Air Force Space Command's Space and Missile Systems Center and Air Force Program Executive Officer for Space; Edward D. Horowitz, former President and CEO of SES Americom, Advisor to Cablevision's DBS Satellite Company, and Executive Vice President, Advanced Technology at Citicorp; and Mark Piegza, U. S.
