Urban Outfitters says January sales grew

PHILADELPHIA -Urban Outfitters said Thursday that January retail sales at stores open more than a year grew 4 percent.
The company's Anthropologie and Free People stores led the growth, posting gains of 10 percent and 11 percent respectively, while sales at namesake Urban Outfitters locations were flat.
The clothing retailer said its direct-to-consumer sales jumped 28 percent while wholesale revenue fell 2 percent.
Urban Outfitters Inc. opened 33 new stores during the fiscal year, which ended in January: 13 Urban Outfitters locations, 16 Anthropologie stores and four Free People stores.
Full-year retail sales at stores open at least a year rose 1 percent. Direct-to-consumer sales rose 19 percent and wholesale sales declined 5 percent.
