David C. Frederick, Partner, Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans &
Figel, P.L.L.C.
Frederick, a veteran appellate litigator, argued three cases this term:

federal pre-emption, and 14 Penn Plaza LLC v. Pyett, an arbitration
dispute. He is a partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel
in Washington, D.C., and the author of the 2003 book “Supreme Court and
Appellate Advocacy.” Frederick was previously an assistant to the
solicitor general and clerked for Justice Byron White.
Pamela Harris, Of Counsel, O'Melveny & Myers
Harris is an experienced appellate advocate who specializes in public
interest and criminal defense cases. This term, Harris argued for the

case. Harris is a former law clerk to Justice John Paul Stevens, and is
co-director of the Harvard Law School Supreme Court and Appellate
Advocacy Clinic. After July 1, she will be director of the Supreme Court

Office for the Third Judicial District v. Osborne, a question of
post-conviction access to biological evidence, and Northwest Austin
Municipal Utility District Number One v. Holder, a challenge to a key
provision of the Voting Rights Act. While a professor Georgetown
