In Greece, there are a large number of companies which carry out domestic and international deliveries. The main characteristic of these companies is their differentiation regarding their size, infrastructure and geographical areas covered. More specifically, there are international companies which mostly deal with international deliveries, national courier companies that have a network across Greece and mostly offer domestic deliveries and, finally, local companies that cover specific areas of the Greek market. In Greece those companies that have a general license for providing courier services are registered in the Hellenic Telecommunications and Postal Services Authority and are about 340.

One of the most important characteristics of this sector is the collaboration among companies, which aims at a mutual filling of possible gaps in their networks. For example, a company that has an extended network abroad can cover certain international deliveries of another company which operates only within Greece. At the same time, the latter can cover the former in certain areas of Greece where the former is not present.
