Pickens: OSU town hall will be among his last
AP
OKLAHOMA CITY -Billionaire energy magnate T. Boone Pickens says a town-hall meeting planned for his alma mater to promote his "Pickens Plan" for energy independence will be his next-to-last in a university setting.
The Oklahoma State University graduate has scheduled the meeting for Thursday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater and says he's hopeful to fill the arena, which seats about 13,600.
Pickens has touted his "Pickens Plan" for energy independence since July 2008. The multimedia campaign is designed to bring more focus to solving the nation's energy crisis. It calls for developing renewable energy sources and using natural gas as a transportation fuel to help wean the U.S. from its dependency on foreign oil.
He says the campaign has been so successful he doesn't think any more university town halls are needed.
