On the Call: JetBlue CEO Dave Barger
AP
NEW YORK -JetBlue and some low-cost airlines have been able to balance flights and schedules more easily than the bigger airlines. That's kept their earnings up despite a steep falloff in the number of fliers. JetBlue CEO Dave Barger discussed the issue with analysts on Thursday.
QUESTION: How will JetBlue manage capacity (scheduled flights and size of planes) in 2010, 2011 and beyond?
RESPONSE: "I think even though we're not providing a look at 2010 as of yet, as we're finalizing our plans, this is still a growth company. And we have a considerable number of (aircraft) in our order book, and I think we're looking forward to deploying them, you know, playing some offense in the not too distance future."
