MOD Systems to Present at Digital Hollywood Fall
Senior VP Larry Smith to Discuss the Future of Content Delivery to Consumers
Business Wire
MOD
Systems
®,
Incorporated, an industry-leading
provider of digital media delivery systems for retailers, today
announced that Larry Smith, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing
and Business Development, will present at Digital Hollywood Fall 2009.
Joining Smith at the panel session will be representatives from Sonic
Solutions/CinemaNow, Entone, Gigantic Digital Cinema, redbox, Avail-TVN
and DivX.
The “Downloads, Movies, DVDs – Everywhere Video to the Consumer” panel
will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at 2:15 p.m. PDT at the
Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
In this panel, experts will discuss how the latest modes of content
delivery are making video available to consumers in new places and in
new ways. From home broadband download to media-on-demand in retail, the
future of video purchase and rental is poised to change. However, as
consumers are presented with more options than traditional pre-packaged
media, how will the entertainment landscape change? Will packaged media
disappear? Will kiosks or broadband downloads rule supreme? This session
will address these questions and more, as industry experts look to a
future with video when and where consumers want it.
Smith has more than 25 years of experience in the entertainment,
technology and retail industries throughout North America and Europe.
Before joining MOD Systems, he served as the COO of North America at
Archos, Inc., a manufacturer of small storage devices for mobile
computing, and as the Worldwide Managing Director of Marketing and New
Business Development for Archos, SA. Smith has also held positions with
On Command Corporation and was a key sales, distribution and content
acquisition player in the start and/or re-launch of EchoStar’s Dish
Network, Request Television, The Home Shopping Network and CNBC.
The MOD Retail Digital Content Distribution System helps retailers bring
an expansive library of digital content into their stores and sell it in
convenient concierge and self-serve models. When retailers add digital
delivery kiosks to their brick and mortar locations and other
high-traffic areas, such as malls, convenience stores and airports, they
expand a content owner’s distribution opportunities and related revenue.
With digital delivery, retailers fill customer needs quickly and easily
without requiring the stocking of pre-packaged inventory like CDs and
DVDs.
About MOD Systems
MOD Systems, Incorporated enables retailers to deliver digital
entertainment to consumers through interactive self-serve or
concierge-assisted kiosks for downloading music and movies to
flash-based storage; including Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, USB
memory keys and portable devices such as mobile phones. The company’s
investors include leading technology innovators NCR Corporation and
Toshiba Corporation. MOD Systems’ growing entertainment catalog includes
nearly 4,000 independent and major video titles, and more than five
million music tracks. The catalog is part of the MOD Retail Digital
Content Distribution System, which handles all aspects of securing,
ingesting, and fulfilling digital content in retail stores. With digital
distribution, consumers browse and purchase the entertainment they want
in the places they already shop, and retailers are empowered to fill
customer needs at the point of sale while eliminating the need to order,
stock, or return traditional pre-packaged media. Visit
