Mich. regional jobless rates down in 11 markets
AP
LANSING, Mich. -Unemployment rates have edged lower in 11 of Michigan's 17 major labor markets.
Unlike national and state rates, the regional unemployment rates reported Thursday for September aren't seasonally adjusted. Michigan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate was a nation's highest 15.3 percent in September.
The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth says the unemployment rate rose in five major labor markets from August and was unchanged in the Saginaw area.
The September rates ranged from a low of 9.3 percent in the Ann Arbor region to a high of 17.3 percent in the Detroit area.
Jobless rates were higher in all regions in September than a year ago.
