Mexico's oil production drops 7 percent
AP
MEXICO CITY -Crude production at Mexico's state-owned oil company dropped 7.1 percent in the first 10 months of this year amid declining reserves.
Petroleos Mexicanos said in statement that oil production from January through October averaged 2.6 million barrels a day, down from 2.8 million barrels during the same period in 2008.
Exports fell 12.8 percent to 1.2 million barrels per day from an average of 1.4 million in 2008.
Mexico's oil production has been falling as reserves dry up. Pemex said it plans to begin producing oil from promising deep-water deposits in the Gulf of Mexico by 2014.
