HARRISBURG, Pa. -Industrial services company Harsco Corp. on Tuesday signed a multiyear, $50 million contract to provide environmental services.
The company will handle metal recovery and onsite removal of decades-old slag stockpiles left behind by a former steel manufacturing plant in Gadsden, Ala. Harsco will recover the slag's metallic content and process the remaining material so that it can be responsibly recycled or placed in a landfill.
Work will begin in January 2010 and is expected to create about 20 new jobs.
Shares of Harsco added 96 cents, or 3 percent, to $32.62 in afternoon trading.
