GSC Logistics' 'Green' Fleet Meets Strict California Air Resources Board (CARB) Regulations Well Ahead of January 2010 Mandate
Market Wire
OAKLAND, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/04/09 -- GSC Logistics, Inc. (GSC), the industry's
forward-thinking logistics provider, today announced that its truck fleet
is fully compliant with new emission regulations mandated by the California
Air Resources Board (CARB). Committed to helping protect the environment
from dangerous greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, GSC proactively met the
strict CARB standards on October 1, 2009 -- three months ahead of the
January 1, 2010 directive for 'clean' drayage equipment operating in the
state of California's Port of Oakland.
"While other carriers are under pressure to comply with CARB by the end of
the year, GSC has already gone green and, as a result, is focusing our
energies on continuing to provide customers with the superior service and
support they have come to expect over the years," said Andy Garcia,
chairman and executive vice president of GSC. "At the same time, we are
proud to assume responsible stewardship for the environment to help reduce
the health risks to all citizens and communities throughout northern
California."
The company has worked aggressively for more than a year to ensure that its
fleet would operate as cleanly as possible. In addition, GSC is currently
working closely with its seasonally extended fleet -- provided by
independent firms -- to ensure that all trucks are compliant with CARB by
the end of the year. This includes relying on the GSC Logistics' Truck
Assistance Program (TAP), which provides grants, financing, emissions
evaluation, and equipment assessment.
Operating in 100 percent compliance with the upcoming CARB regulations, GSC
operates its 'green' fleet throughout California's San Francisco Bay Area,
Silicon Valley, North Bay, Central Valley, and Reno/Sparks, Nevada region.
"We're proud to continue our track record of reliability and service
throughout the region with our brand new 'green' fleet," says Garcia.
