Fox: will.i.am self-censored on `Boom Boom Pow'
AP
LOS ANGELES -Fox TV says a moment of silence during the Black Eyed Peas performance on `American Idol' wasn't the network's doing.
Midway through the song "Boom Boom Pow," TV viewers heard only silence and saw an "Idol" logo across the screen for a few moments. A Fox spokesman said it was singer will.i.am's decision to stay mum, apparently to keep an expletive from airing during Wednesday's performance.
The two-hour finale of "American Idol" featured a lineup of pop stars, including the Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper and Keith Urban.
Kris Allen, a 23-year-old student from Conway, Ark., took the "Idol" title over 27-year-old Adam Lambert, a theater actor from San Diego.
