eVoter Launches in Illinois for the February 2010 Primary Election
eVoter.com is the non-partisan website that offers complete ballot information for every federal, state and local race in the Illinois primary elections
PR Newswire
CHICAGO, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- eVoter
(www.evoter.com), the first online destination where candidates, voters and endorsing organizations can make direct connections, has launched its new election website in Illinois.
The non-partisan website includes complete ballot information for every federal, state and local race in the February 2, 2010 Illinois primary election. eVoter was developed to serve three main audiences: voters, candidates and endorsing organizations. For candidates and organizations, a minimal registration fee provides access to a streamlined platform of tools for communicating with motivated voters. The service is completely free for voters.
"We're pleased to announce the launch of eVoter in Illinois in time for the primary campaign season," said Adam Kravitz, CEO of Political Technologies LLC, owners and operators of eVoter. "This website will change the way voters access election information and how candidates campaign. According to a study done by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, in the 2008 election more than half of all voters used the Internet for political information and research. Before eVoter, there wasn't a single website where voters could meet all of their election needs."
eVoter launched the first phase of functionality this month. Candidates are now able to purchase and customize an online profile that includes a range of Internet campaign features, such as: fundraising and managing of campaign contributions; recruiting volunteers; sending direct messages to voters; highlighting endorsements; and posting news clips and videos.
While top-ballot candidates get the benefit of additional online exposure to motivated voters, it's the down-ballot candidates that reap the largest return on their small investment in eVoter.
"City council, judicial and school board races often don't generate a lot of media or public attention, so it's difficult to drive traffic to a campaign website -- if one has even been created," said Philip Muller, Political Technologies' President. "For a lower cost than an order of lawn signs or an ad in the local newspaper, eVoter gives down-ballot candidates the complete benefits of Internet campaigning and fundraising."
According to Kravitz, phase one of the launch involves outreach to candidates and campaign managers to educate them about the tools now available through eVoter. Subsequent phases will include a function that enables registered political organizations to post their candidate endorsements and provide online slate cards to voters, as well as a multi-faceted media campaign aimed at primary voters.
In addition to communicating with candidates and organizations, voters can also use eVoter to locate their polling place, access absentee ballot request forms, generate and print a customized ballot, and donate to campaigns.
Illinois, which has the nation's first primary election in 2010, is the first state where eVoter is available. Political Technologies plans to roll out the service to more than a half-dozen states by the 2010 general election and all 50 states by 2012.
To purchase an eVoter profile, candidates can visit
