Continental Airlines names financier to board

HOUSTON -Continental Airlines Inc. said Friday that an executive from a private equity firm has been added to its board.
The airline said Laurence E. Simmons, president of SCF Partners, was elected to board. He founded SCF, which invests in oilfield-services companies, in 1989. Before that, he was a co-founder and partner of Simmons & Co. International.
Simmons is on the board of Zions Bancorporation and was previously on the board of ExpressJet Holdings Inc., whose affiliates operate regional flights for Continental.
