WASHINGTON (Nov. 18) -- Setting up a historic year-end health care debate, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled long-awaited legislation Wednesday night to extend coverage to all but 6 percent of eligible Americans and bar private industry from denying insurance because of pre-existing medical conditions.
The Democrat's $849 billion measure is designed to remake the nation's health care system, relying on cuts in future Medicare spending to cover costs

If you are complaining about healthcare going up 20 to 30 percent, what about college tuition going up 32 percent in California. Have been in the stores lately, everything is going up, unfortunately it is only helping other countries. Maybe if we started creating jobs and kept business in the US everyone could afford health insurance.

You don't know your history. The UPS was created by to college kids. It was not a spin off from the postal service. The UPS is not owned by the government - your logic that anything profitable can't belong to the government is rediculous. Why? The reason why the government doesn't make profits is because 1) that's ******* job, and 2) the mindset is that one doesn't need to make a profit because the taxes are always going to be there no matter what one does.

The government's only role is to protect us from attack. No where in the constitution does it say that the government can "steal" (sorry, tax) from me to pay for someone else on the threat of imprisonment. If we want to lower costs, then do so by stopping these ludicrous lawsuits, and illegals who use our emergency healthcare procedures without paying. Hey, perhaps we ought to bill Mexico for caring for all of their citizens.

You have got to be kidding. We're ranked 37th? Then why do all those from socialistic countries bang on our doors trying to get in. The WHO should get their facts right.

By telling the insurance companies that they can't charge more for a sick person, or dropping them is government force. It's illegal and unconstitutional. The only way an insurance company is going to survive is by raising the rates on all of us to cover the costs. If the government says no to that, it will mean bankruptcy, and investors are not going to invest in companies that go bankrupt. You do not have a right to health insurance, and you definitely don't have the right to use government force to steal from me.
