ACS Recognized for Performance Excellence with Second CMMI Level 3 Rating
Business Wire
Affiliated
Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) today announced that its
Education Solutions business unit has achieved the Software Engineering
Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level
3 rating on software development projects. The rating highlights ACS’
continued performance excellence and ability to deliver value to its
clients by improving business processes.
CMMI
is an internationally recognized approach that provides organizations
with the elements essential for process improvement. A Level 3 rating
ensures that standard processes are in place and used to establish
consistency of process performance.
ACS’ Education Solutions business unit supports servicing and
collections for the federal government’s student loan programs, managing
the business operations of $175 billion in loans to more than 12 million
borrowers. To achieve CMMI Level 3, an independent appraisal team
reviewed standard processes as well as a sampling of current software
development projects. The processes and projects were reviewed for the
software development lifecycle, including project planning, requirements
development, design, software development, testing, implementation and
configuration management.
“The CMMI Level 3 rating reflects the commitment to quality that ACS has
provided in serving the Department of Education for 15 years,” said
Tim
Conway, senior vice president and managing director,
ACS
Federal Solutions line of business. “The CMMI maturity framework
will continue to be used to improve our processes so ACS can better
serve its clients.”
Earlier this year, ACS’ Office of the CIO received a CMMI Level 3
designation for its corporate quality management system for technology
implementations deployed for ACS' commercial and government clients,
focusing on eight projects in the
Government
Healthcare Solutions line of business.
As the largest provider of business process solutions and one of the
largest information technology service providers to the nation’s public
sector, ACS serves as an
operational
partner to more than 1,700 government agencies on the federal,
state, county and local level.
The work of ACS touches millions of people every day. ACS processes more
than half of the nation’s
child
support payments; manages 24
electronic
payment card programs for state and federal clients, disbursing
government payments and benefits; processes nearly 570 million
Medicaid
claims each year totaling more than $50 billion in provider
payments; saves
state
child care programs millions of dollars; and facilitates more than
75 million online searches for
unclaimed
property per year.
