3M launches rapid test for respiratory virus

ST. PAUL, Minn. -3M Co. said Tuesday it introduced a test for respiratory syncytial virus, the most common cause of lower respiratory tract illnesses in infants and young children.
3M said the Rapid Detection RSV test can find the virus in 15 minutes or less using a nose or throat swab, specimens, or secretions. The test runs on the automated 3M Rapid Detection Reader.
In late afternoon trading, 3M shares fell 78 cents to $76.04.
